Stuart Davis Biography

Stuart Davis, American painter was born in Philadelphia, on December 7, 1892. He was the son of Edward Wyatt Davis and Helen Stuart Davis. Both his parents were working in the arts. His father was working as an art editor for the Philadelphia Press. At that time, her mother was a sculptor. In 1909 Stuart Davis started studying painting. His teacher was Robert Henri, who was the leader of the Eight, modern art group. He finished studying in 1912. In 1913 he was among the youngest painters who exhibited Armory Show.   He is mostly known for his pop art andjazz-influenced paintings.  Stuart Davis died on the 24th  June in 1964.
