Martin Heidegger Biography

Martin Heidegger, German philosopher was born in Messkirch, Germany on September 26, 1889. Martin  was the son of Friedrich Heidegger  and Johanna  Kempf. His father was  the sexton of the village church. The family could not pay for university fees, so Martin attended to a Jesuit seminary. He left the seminary after a few weeks because of health problem. Martin Heidegger  left Catholicism, because of its difference from  his philosophy. In 1909 he started studying theology at the University of Freiburg. He graduated the university in 1911. Martin changed theology with philosophy.  

Martin Heidegger married to Elfride Petri in 1917. They married with both Catholic and Protestant ceremony.  The couple had a son, who was born in 1919. They named him Jorg.

Martin Heidegger died on May 26, 1976. He was buried in the Messkirch cemetery, as his parents and his brother.
